Champa Patel

Dr. Champa Patel is Director, Campaigns Programme for Amnesty International. In this role, she manages teams covering Crisis Response and Tactical Campaigns, Individuals at Risk/Human Rights Defenders, Global Campaigns teams and Global Activism and Youth work. Previously, Champa was Head of Campaigns and Head of Casework and Activism for Amnesty International UK, establishing Amnesty UK’s first ever Human Rights Defender Program. Prior to Amnesty, she worked in public health, overseeing services and programs focusing on refugees and asylum seekers, particularly unaccompanied minors, children at risk of, or experiencing, sexual exploitation and trafficked individuals. Champa is also a Visiting Practitioner at the University of York, Fellow and Faculty Member at the Salzburg Global Seminar and on the Editorial Board for Human Rights Quarterly.
