On 27 January, 2021, a group of protection experts from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives--including the United Nations, the Inter-American system, donors, human rights defenders, and the Mexican protection mechanism for human rights defenders and journalists--joined together to discuss the launch of the new Risk Analysis and Protection Plan Principles, otherwise known as the "Risk Approach Recommendations", which aim to change the way we approach the protection of human rights defenders for the better.

Tune in to learn about the importance of using the Risk Approach when it comes to the protection of human rights defenders as well as why we need minimum standards when doing so. In 2020, Protection International hosted a consultation process with 65+ practitioners from around the globe to write 21 principles for these standards.
