On September 29th, it will be launched during the 30th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva the report on the situation of human rights defenders in Mexico, entitled ‘’In Defence of Life’’, includes the conclusions of the Mission of International Civil Society Observers -MOC-.
The Mission, established in November 2014 by a group of experts from Latin America and Europe, aimed to analyze the situation of the human rights defenders in Mexico, the risks they are facing, the existing protection mechanisms, and the implementation of European directives on human rights in the country.
Protection International along with other accredited local and international civil society organizations was part of this initiative to investigate the situation of human rights defenders in the country, inviting a delegation of specialists on human rights to participate in the Mission. As a result, we are pleased to share the ‘In Defence of Life: Conclusions of the Mission of International Civil Society Observers about the situation of Human Rights Defenders in Mexico, 2015’.
